Early Warning Services, LLC

Job description

At Early Warning, we've powered and protected the U.S. financial system for over thirty years with cutting-edge solutions like Zelle®, Paze℠, and so much more. As a trusted name in payments, we partner with thousands of institutions to increase access to financial services and protect transactions for hundreds of millions of consumers and small businesses.
Positions located in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York follow a hybrid work model to allow for a more collaborative working environment.
Candidates responding to this posting must independently possess the eligibility to work in the United States, for any employer, at the date of hire. This position is ineligible for employment Visa sponsorship.
Overall Purpose
As a Senior UX Designer on the UX Design and Research team, you will work across Zelle® and Certos product initiatives - designing experiences, contributing to UX standards, and partnering closely with product, engineering, and financial institution partners to bring well-considered, trustworthy design to market.
This is a hands-on IC role. You will own design work end-to-end: from understanding user needs, to shaping flows and interactions, to delivering polished, production-ready work. What makes this role distinct is the breadth - you will develop fluency across a payments and identity ecosystem that very few designers get to work inside.
We are looking for someone with strong craft, genuine curiosity about how financial systems work, and the drive to do their best work in a complex, high-stakes environment. Hunger and range matter more here than a long title history.
Essential Functions
  • Design across Zelle® and CertosTM product surfaces - consumer-facing flows, partner-facing guidelines, and everything in between

  • Translate complex payment and identity concepts into experiences that feel simple, clear, and trustworthy to end users

  • Build wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes from early concept through delivery

  • Contribute to UX guidelines and standards that partner financial institutions implement across the Zelle® network

  • Participate in user research and usability testing; turn findings into clear design decisions

  • Share work in critiques, give and receive feedback constructively, and help raise the craft bar across the team

  • Stay close to the competitive landscape - understanding how peers in payments and e-commerce are solving similar problems

Minimum qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of UX/product design experience, with a portfolio showing strong craft and clear thinking on complex products

  • Some grounding in payments, fintech, banking, or a comparably complex ecosystem - you understand that financial products carry real stakes for real people

  • Strong visual design sensibility: typography, layout, hierarchy, interaction detail - you care about the quality of your output

  • Proficiency in Figma; comfortable with prototyping and usability testing tools

  • Clear communicator - in design reviews, in documentation, and with non-design partners

  • Self-directed: you manage your own workstream, ask good questions when you need to, and do not wait to be told what to do next

  • Collaborative and receptive to feedback: you have a point of view and you hold it lightly

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with payment flows, checkout UX, or identity verification products

  • Familiarity with how payment rails work - enough to design around the constraints, not just the happy path

  • Experience contributing to design systems or UX standards documentation

  • Webflow or front-end familiarity (HTML/CSS) as a strong bonus

  • Experience with usability testing tools such as UserTesting, Maze, or Lookback, etc.

Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
Employee must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
The above job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position.
The base pay scale for this position in:
San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $128,000 - $156,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
This pay scale is subject to change and is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific candidate, which is always dependent on legitimate factors considered at the time of job offer. Early Warning Services takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining a competitive salary offer, including, but not limited to, the job scope, market rates and geographic location of a position, candidate's education, experience, training, and specialized skills or certification(s) in relation to the job requirements and compared with internal equity (peers). Early Warning Services is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
