The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking a Communications Specialist to support the Rochester practice. This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of departmental strategic communications, education, and marketing initiatives that drive patient demand, support priority service lines, and align with Mayo Clinic's institutional goals. Key responsibilities include campaign strategy and execution, digital marketing (search engine optimization, paid search, and web optimization), content development, social media management, and performance analytics. The role also provides consultative support to clinical and administrative stakeholders to ensure alignment between communication efforts and departmental priorities, with a focus on attracting high-complexity patients into appropriate care pathways.
In addition to strategy, this role manages ongoing operational needs such as website updates, oversight of video production/content, digital accessibility compliance, and analytics reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on communications professional to play a critical role in advancing innovative strategies to connect patients with specialized care and elevate the department's national presence. Working closely with physician leaders, departmental administration, and collaborative partners, the successful candidate will help shape the future of patient engagement and demand generation for one of the country's premier academic otolaryngology practices.

The Communications Specialist will provide strategic communications consultation and guidance to various clients. The Specialist will plan, drive, implement, monitor, and measure results of communications plans to advance Mayo Clinic's mission, strategic plan, and business objectives. The Specialist has strong skills in the field of communications, media relations, social media, digital, news and/or staff engagement communications activities. Demonstrates a strong understanding of the communications discipline along with critical thinking and strategic counseling skills. Represents Mayo Clinic internally and externally. Demonstrates project management skills and the ability to manage projects through the entire project life cycle. Demonstrates strong writing, editing, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proactively seeks opportunities to build and improve positive relationships with colleagues, leaders, and experts. Understands and acts independently to drive functional strategies forward to advance Mayo Clinic's mission, strategic plan, and business goals.
