Web Monitoring information

What is web monitoring?

A Web Monitoring job involves tracking website performance, uptime, security, and user activity to ensure optimal functionality. Professionals in this role use various tools to detect downtime, broken links, slow-loading pages, or potential security threats. They may also analyze web traffic and user behavior to optimize content and functionality. Web Monitoring specialists are essential for maintaining a seamless user experience and ensuring a website remains operational and secure.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in web monitoring?

Professionals in Web Monitoring typically spend their days tracking website performance, analyzing site traffic, and identifying unusual patterns or potential security threats using specialized monitoring tools. They create regular reports on site uptime, latency, and error rates, and respond quickly to incidents by troubleshooting issues or escalating them to relevant technical teams. In addition to technical tasks, web monitoring specialists often collaborate with developers, IT security personnel, and management to communicate findings and recommend improvements. This dynamic role requires a mix of real-time vigilance and proactive planning to ensure smooth, secure web operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in web monitoring, and why are they important?

To thrive in Web Monitoring, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and familiarity with cybersecurity principles, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with monitoring tools like Google Analytics, Splunk, or New Relic and knowledge of scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) are highly valuable, and certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Certified Ethical Hacker can be advantageous. Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure help professionals excel in this field. These competencies are essential for promptly detecting, interpreting, and communicating web issues to ensure optimal site performance and security.

Job description

About Polymarket

Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer‑to‑peer marketplace with no centralized "house," Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future.

We’re growing fast — both in terms of volume ($21B traded in 2025) and adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media and we need your help adding fuel to the fire.

About the Role

Polymarket is launching perpetual futures and we’re looking for a Senior Web Engineer to own the frontend of our perps product. You’ll build the trading interfaces that traders will rely on every day: order entry, position management, real‑time market data, and the full suite of UI that makes a great perps exchange feel fast, reliable, and intuitive.

This is a high‑ownership role at the intersection of frontend product development, backend systems, performance, and reliability. We want someone who has shipped trading UIs before, understands the domain deeply, and can move fast without compromising quality.

What You'll Do
  • Own and ship complex trading UI features end-to-end — order books, position panels, trade history, funding rates, liquidation displays, and more — making thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, quality, and long‑term maintainability
  • Work closely with backend engineers to design APIs, reason through real‑time data flows, and build reliable trading experiences on top of complex exchange systems
  • Partner with QA, TPM, product, and design to clarify requirements, manage launches, and improve product quality
  • Monitor dashboards, alerts, and user reports to identify and respond to issues quickly; work with backend and infrastructure teams during incidents to isolate root causes and follow through with fixes
  • Design and implement UI that handles live market data, streaming order books, and fast‑moving prices in a way that feels responsive and accurate to traders
  • Build and improve the logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and error reporting that give the team visibility into frontend system performance
  • Identify meaningful technical debt, propose pragmatic refactors, and contribute to system design discussions that evolve our frontend architecture as the product scales
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years of frontend web engineering experience
  • Strong hands‑on experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend development
  • Experience building trading, exchange, or financial product UIs — you understand the domain and know what a great trading interface requires
  • Strong frontend system design instincts across state management, data fetching, caching, performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Experience working with real‑time data: WebSockets, streaming APIs, or live market feeds
  • Strong debugging skills and experience responding to production issues
  • Comfortable working with backend engineers on APIs, data contracts, failure modes, and system behavior
  • High agency — you notice problems, propose solutions, and drive work to completion
  • Clear communicator during planning, launches, bugs, and incidents
  • (Plus) Direct experience building UI for a perpetuals exchange or derivatives trading product
  • (Plus) Frontend performance specialization, particularly around real‑time data rendering
  • (Plus) Experience in crypto, Web3, or adjacent financial infrastructure
  • (Plus) Experience improving frontend observability, alerting, or reliability practices
  • (Plus) Strong practical use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity
Benefits
  • Competitive salary & equity
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Full Health, Vision, & Dental coverage
  • 401k match
  • Hardware setup: new MacBook Pro, big display, & accessories
