Job description

Description:

PINT is seeking a web engineer with experience building and maintaining typical web systems including environments, networks, databases, deployment workflows, content management systems, etc. Engineers at PINT work across the application stack from api and endpoint service development to plugin and application work, as well as database management and platform/application deployment. This is an all-inclusive role that is perfect for engineers who enjoy problem-solving and who particularly want to work on web systems.

We are an agency that seeks creative solutions for our own and our clients' business needs and the ideal candidate will have several years of experience interpreting business requirements as delivered by project managers, crafting project plans and working within the constraints of client approvals and needs. This is a role for someone used to getting things done while bearing in mind the many technical trade-offs and maintainability concerns inherent in building for external clients.
Lastly: we work across a variety of open source and proprietary systems, we implement many different platforms and frameworks and we always strive to work on emerging tech while maintaining best practices. This is not a role with a strictly-defined playbook and you will have the opportunity to make critical decisions regarding tech selection, implementation details, deployment processes, etc. This is a role for engineers seeking to grow and influence others and who want the opportunity to make well-informed suggestions and decisions that will dictate the end results of web projects. If you care deeply about the web and want to work around people who feel the same way, PINT is the place for you.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and as part of a team to build and help create solutions to implement existing and new web applications and sites
  • Build, migrate, and maintain web applications in a variety of environments and platforms
  • Communicate status, problems, and resolutions on projects and assignments
  • Estimate and set expectations for scope and completion of tasks and projects
  • Provide support, maintenance, and bug fixes on existing and new websites and applications
  • Help brainstorm new ideas and features for sites and applications
  • Stay current on industry progression and standards
Requirements:

  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Computer Science, Math, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Web Design/Development, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Expert development skill in typical web technologies, including legacy implementations and modern improvements
  • Database design, management, and migration expertise
  • Experience with a few commonly-used CMS (proprietary, commercial, open source)
  • Linux environment provisioning and management (Windows server experience also useful but not required)
  • CI/CD pipeline and build/test/deploy process familiarity
  • Experience with/understanding of standard software engineering practices
  • Strong understanding of web application architecture and development principles
  • Some onsite responsibilities (local networking hardware and colocation racks)

Benefits

PINT offers industry-competitive salary, health, dental and 401(k) benefits. We also have an easy-to-reach location by the beach and bay and a lot of smart people who spend a lot of time thinking about the web. Easy and comfortable culture and a strong emphasis on learning.

PINT is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
