As a 2027 University Intern - ERI, you will gain hands-on experience through meaningful projects that help build your technical and professional skills at Phillips 66.
At the Phillips 66 Research Center in Bartlesville, OK, Energy Research and Innovation (ERI) employees from multiple business disciplines deliver critical support and solutions that enable strong operating excellence and growth opportunities for the company worldwide.
A summer intern with the Phillips 66 ERI Analytical Solutions team works with personnel in ERI and Refining or Midstream teams to provide chemical insights and solutions to challenging problems. The role will primarily utilize analytical chemistry expertise to advance the company's capabilities in analytical measurements
What You'll Do
  • Orientation and training events, field trips, social activities, weekly seminars and opportunities to meet and interact with functional leaders.
  • Participating in continuous coaching conversations with your manager, who will provide direction throughout your internship.
  • Provided with an assigned mentor for further guidance and to help you with the technical challenges of your role and give assistance in navigating through the day-to-day questions regarding working in the corporate world.
  • Giving a presentation at the end of the summer to senior business leaders and key stakeholders. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate what you learned in your internship and provide insight on your experience.

A successful ERI intern has a customer-first mindset and is a self-starter who can learn quickly and work independently. Projects vary widely in scope ranging from optimization of core test methods to developing novel and customized methods to solve challenging problems in the energy industry.
Learn about the ERI business by working with experts throughout the organization and company at a world-class research and development facility.
Collaborate with business units across the company including refining, midstream, commercial, and renewables to bring analytical solutions to the field.

What You'll Bring - Required
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry or equivalent field of study.
  • Available for a minimum of ten continuous weeks
  • Available to work at Bartlesville, OK research facility

What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred
  • At least one year into a master's or PhD program with demonstrated progress in relevant coursework and research.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Previous internship or co-op participant in related industry
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Mass Spectrometry, Gas or Liquid Chromatography, Scanning Electron Microscopy and other analytical techniques

Compensation Range
This position has a pay range of $2,202.00 - $3,044.00 bi-weekly, dependent on a candidate's degree type and expected graduation date.
