Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Inside Sales team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the General Manager to execute commercial strategies that support branch growth, profitability, and customer retention.
  • Support Outside Sales Representatives through account strategy, quoting, pricing, customer service, and business development initiatives.
  • Review sales performance, bookings, margins, inventory movement, forecasting, and customer trends to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Drive proactive inventory management by partnering with purchasing and operations to improve inventory turns and reduce aged inventory.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers and assist with strategic account planning, customer issue resolution, and retention efforts.
  • Collaborate with operations to improve communication, delivery performance, customer satisfaction, and overall branch execution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely quoting, order processing, and customer follow-up while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Coach team members through performance feedback, training, career development, and succession planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, leverage technology, and increase team efficiency.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of future sales talent.
  • Serve as a leader during organizational change by promoting collaboration, communication, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, supplier changes, and customer needs to support business planning.
  • Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in metals distribution, manufacturing, industrial sales, or a related commercial environment.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and develop employees.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of sales, customer service, inventory management, pricing, and profitability.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound business decisions.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems (AS400 experience preferred).
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
