Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The MCI Sales Engineering Manager will serve as the primary liaison between MCI Private Sector Sales and the factory (Engineering, Sourcing, Operations).  This position seeks to balance the needs of MCI's customers against the organization's strategic goals, legal requirements and technical capabilities with respect to designing, configuring and building motorcoaches.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Act as the "voice of the customer" to ensure that MCI product offerings are relevant and valued in the market.  Regularly participate in customer meetings with MCI Sales & Service reps and attend industry trade shows & other events as required to ensure that the product needs of our customers are addressed.
  • Develop, own and maintain the "coach product roadmap" using quality, function, deployment (QFD) and other product planning tools.
  • Detailed product knowledge and a working understanding of MCI's "Coach Structure Charts" is essential in this position.
  • Review all private sector coach configurations in the MCI product configurator - ensure that submitted spec content is complete and technically accurate, including any new requested special developments.  Consult with Engineering and other functions as required during the spec review process to ensure technical & commercial "buy-in".
  • Provide final approval for all private sector coach specs, including estimated cost/pricing.  Create Teamcenter bid packages and communicate approval of all specs to the organization (approval does not guarantee orders).
  • Work with Sales & Marketing to create "fast track" configurations which maximize the likelihood of customer purchases (optimal mix of coach features, fabrics, etc.).
  • Work with Sales & Finance to create and maintain fixed cost/price values for basic and optional features of all private sector coach models - updates to coincide with MY and mid-MY product timing.
  • Work with Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations to provide cost/price estimates for customer requested specials as required.
  • Work closely with vendors to understand their current product offerings/capabilities, costs & lead times, as well as review any new product offerings to determine their applicability to the MCI coach market (e.g., conduct regular reviews of new seating and interior fabric options).
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of the MCI product configurator and visualization tool - ensure that all standard product feature and option content is updated in a timely manner and accurate fixed cost/price values are linked to all basic and optional product features.
  • Conduct yearly reviews of options and special usage - make recommendations to promote high usage options to basic & high usage specials to options and remove low usage options.
  • Assimilate customer, sales and service feedback and provide input into the Product Planning function.
  • Update product information, spec sheet data, sales product presentations, conduct training for new product features and launches.
  • Compile and organize competitor coach information for the organization including maintenance of the "Product Spec Matrix" document, which provides a high-level feature comparison between all MCI and competitor coach models.  Identify competitive strengths & weaknesses for product planning purposes.
  • Coordinate and host customer factory visits as required.
  • Review and support the creation/maintenance of MCI Marketing information (brochures, spec sheets, web pages, etc.).
  • Conduct training for the Sales & Service groups on new products & features, regulatory changes, etc. in a timely manner
  • Responsible to ensure all controls (ICFR Internal Controls) identified under their area of responsibility are designed and operating as outlined in the internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Ensure policies and processes are established and adhered to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including organizational quality, environmental, health & safety programs.
  • Other duties as requested.
  • Some travel is required for this position
