Job description

The Junior Web Developer supports the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of web-based applications using Adobe ColdFusion and related technologies. This role partners with senior developers and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions aligned with enterprise standards. 

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Wood Dale, IL, with a planned relocation to the Merchandise Mart (Chicago) in early 2027.

What you will be responsible for:   

  • Develop, test, and maintain ColdFusion applications Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and issues 
  • Support database integrations and SQL development Collaborate on enhancements and new feature delivery 
  • Monitor application performance and recommend improvements 
  • Participate in code reviews and follow development standards Maintain technical documentation 
  • Assist with deployment and version control processes Support legacy systems and modernization efforts 
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript Understanding of SQL and relational databases 
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git-Azure DevOps) 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with programming languages (CFML, CFScript, TypeScript) Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL relational databases Experience with server-side scripting (ColdFusion, node.js) 
  • Exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries (Angular, jQuery) 
  • Exposure to CSS frameworks (Bootstrap) 
  • Knowledge of Apache and Tomcat web servers 
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies Understanding of secure coding practices Integration with enterprise systems (e.g., APIs, authentication, SSO) 
  • Experience maintaining legacy apps while modernizing 
  • Exposure to infrastructure like Azure 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • 0-3 years of development experience

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000 annually. This range reflects the base salary for candidates who meet the requirements of the role, including experience, education, and location. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a bonus. AAR offers a competitive benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life/and AD&D insurance, 401(k) savings plan with employer match, paid time off and holiday pay, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth.
