Job description

Overview

The Web Experience Specialist supports the performance, usability, and daily operation of the university's web system in alignment with recruitment, fundraising, alumni engagement, and institutional marketing initiatives. This role collaborates closely with Advancement marketing staff to deploy digital campaigns, maintain web content, optimize user experience, and support analytics reporting that advances institutional growth objectives.

Responsibilities

Website Operations & Maintenance

  • Maintain the university website and related digital properties to ensure accuracy, functionality, accessibility, and brand consistency.
  • Implement approved updates to site architecture, navigation, and page structures supporting marketing and advancement priorities.
  • Conduct routine site audits to identify performance, usability, and content improvement opportunities.

Campaign & Landing Page Support

  • Build and maintain landing pages supporting enrollment, advancement campaigns, and institutional initiatives.
  • Partner with the Marketing Strategy & Content Coordinator to publish campaign content according to the institutional editorial calendar.
  • Assist in implementing SEO, page optimization, and conversion-focused design improvements.

Content Deployment & Workflow Collaboration

  • Publish and update website content within established turnaround timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to approved content contributors across departments.
  • Maintain documentation of publishing workflows and digital content standards.

Analytics & Reporting Support

  • Monitor website analytics including traffic, engagement, and conversion indicators.
  • Assist in preparing monthly performance summaries supporting Advancement leadership.
  • Recommend data-informed improvements to enhance digital engagement and campaign outcomes.

Compliance & Standards

  • Support website accessibility compliance (ADA), privacy standards, and institutional publishing policies.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional branding and digital governance guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Digital Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience managing websites, CMS platforms, or digital content systems.
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms, SEO practices, and user experience optimization.
  • Strong organizational and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong operational knowledge of Google Analytics, SEMrush, HTML, Adobe Creative Cloud, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and CMS administrative tools. (Required)
  • Strong project management experience including time spent planning, leading, directing, and managing successful projects.
  • Unquestioned integrity and a commitment to nurturing an academic environment that welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and experiences and promotes their full development. (Required)
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills to work with and engage multiple and diverse constituencies. (Required)
  • A broad understanding of different student recruitment and marketing strategies. (Required)
  • Experience working in a higher education or college/university environment. (Preferred)
