Social Media Marketing Intern


RedPoint Media is seeking a Social Media Marketing Intern for a four-month term from September 1, 2026 to December 15, 2026. This full-time contract position is an opportunity to work with an award-winning publication, gain invaluable experience in the magazine industry, expand your network of contacts and develop your skills through on-the-job training. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution.


RedPoint Media Group Inc., Avenue's parent company, is an award-winning publishing house and content-driven marketing studio in Calgary. You'll be joining the team that creates our in-house brand Avenue, an award-winning city lifestyle magazine. Our company also creates custom publications for clients, including the Calgary Foundation, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Calgary Arts Development, and others.

RedPoint Media has a hybrid office setup that allows employees to work from home or from the co-working space at CSpace Marda Loop. Some face-to-face meetings as well as event attendance will be necessary.

This position is funded through the Culture Works Canada (CWC) Student Work Placement program, supported by the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC). Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or permanent residents and current post-secondary students or recent graduates.

This internship is a full-time, three-and-a-half-month contract position. The salary is based on a 40-hour work week at minimum wage, and you will be paid semi-monthly on the 15th and the last day of the month.


This is an opportunity to:

  • Create digital content for social media, newsletters and web, including audio, visual and written content.
  • Work closely with the editorial team to create social content across several channels that helps our content and events reach wider audiences.
  • Write, research, fact-check and interview while ensuring the accuracy and quality for which Avenue magazine and its digital brand extensions are known.
  • Take part in Avenue's editorial processes, from idea brainstorming sessions and beyond, and be a valued member of a magazine editorial team.
  • Provide general assistance to the editorial team.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

You are a current post-secondary student with an interest in social media, marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field. You are curious, creative, organized, and excited to learn about digital content and publishing.


Your skills, knowledge and know-how:

  • Strong writing, research, editing and fact-checking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with the public online and in-person.
  • Interest in creating engaging content for social media, newsletters and web.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with Canva and/or InDesign, Google Suite, Mac OS, Android and/or iPhone, DSLR.
  • Experience with social media platforms, WordPress or digital content tools is an asset.
  • Ability and interest to produce audio and visual content is an asset.
