What is web application development?

Web application development is the process of creating software applications that run on web servers and can be accessed through a web browser. It involves designing, building, testing, and maintaining applications that use technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side languages like Python, PHP, or Java. Web apps can range from simple websites to complex platforms like e-commerce sites or online tools. The goal is to deliver interactive, user-friendly experiences that work across multiple devices and browsers.

How do web application developers typically collaborate with designers and backend engineers during a project?

Web application developers frequently work closely with both UI/UX designers and backend engineers to ensure seamless integration of frontend interfaces with server-side logic. Collaboration often involves regular meetings, shared project management tools, and code reviews to align on functionality and design requirements. Developers may participate in sprint planning sessions and use platforms like GitHub for version control, facilitating smooth communication and efficient handoffs between teams. This collaborative environment helps ensure the final product is user-friendly, visually appealing, and performs reliably across different devices.

Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Senior .NET Systems Analyst / Developer to design, develop, modify, and integrate complex information systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution-translating requirements into technical specifications, designing robust .NET applications, and optimizing system performance. Combining hands-on coding with technical leadership, you will guide project phases, mentor junior team members, and drive innovative software solutions utilizing modern development tools including AI-assisted coding platforms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives through targeted research to design, develop, modify, or integrate complex enterprise systems.
  • Optimize application systems and procedures to enhance functional requirements, capacity, operating speed, and response times.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document complex programs, subroutines, scripts, and web services.
  • Serve in technical leadership capacities-acting as project lead, technical lead, or senior analyst for small-to-medium efforts and managing critical phases of larger initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business users and systems analysts to interpret functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications and application architectures.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive program and system test plans alongside data verification strategies.
  • Respond proactively to system failures and performance anomalies, executing root-cause analysis to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and training to less-experienced analysts and programmers.
  • Maintain sharp technical expertise across software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, and networks.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Technology Stack Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, MVC, SQL Server, T-SQL, jQuery, and WebAPI (spanning web, UI, and data services layers). Familiarity with GitHub Copilot and M365 Copilot is required; mainframe COBOL experience is a valued plus.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of professional experience in systems analysis and software programming centered around the .NET ecosystem. Experience within the health insurance or highly regulated financial/healthcare industries is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (equivalent experience accepted at a rate of one year of technical experience for every year of college).
  • Leadership & Core Competencies: Proven history of leading medium-to-complex technology initiatives, organizing and prioritizing resources, and translating complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
