Job description

Digital Marketing Analyst - 87MG6E

We're determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals - and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.

Hartford Funds is seeking a Web Designer to work within the Marketing Design team, partnering with our Senior Web Designer on the design, development, ongoing maintenance, and data-driven page management of Hartford Funds' websites and digital campaigns. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career designer/developer who blends strong graphic design sensibilities with hands-on front-end coding skills, a detail-oriented approach to site maintenance, and a genuine interest in modern web tools, including AI-assisted development.

The Web Designer will translate creative concepts into clean, accessible, and functional web pages; hand-code HTML, CSS, and front-end enhancements; build wireframes and prototypes; design supporting graphics; build and maintain live website content and page templates; and assemble, QA, and update data-driven product pages within our content management (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) systems, all while adhering to brand standards and regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • UI/UX design: Apply UI and UX best practices and standards to create intuitive, user-centered, accessible digital experiences.
  • Wireframes & Mockups: Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts, content hierarchy, and page functionality from development through publishing.
  • Graphic design: Produce custom graphics, web imagery, and support visual assets using Adobe Photoshop and related design tools.
  • Design systems & brand: Help develop and maintain digital design systems, website style guides, and digital brand elements derived from the firm's master brand guideline document, ensuring consistency across all executions.
  • CMS & DAM publishing: Manage and publish web content and digital assets within CMS and DAM platforms, using custom components and page templates while managing tags and other document metadata.
  • Site maintenance: Maintain live website pages and templates through content updates, link checks, page refreshes, bug fixes, component updates, and routine QA to ensure pages remain accurate, functional, and compliant.
  • Data-driven product page management: Build, update, and maintain product pages that rely on structured data, ensuring fund information, performance data, disclosures, documents, related links, and page modules are accurate, timely, and displayed correctly.
  • HTML & CSS: Hand-code clean, standards-compliant HTML and CSS to build, update, and maintain web pages, campaign elements, and reusable page components.
  • JavaScript: Implement front-end web functionality using JavaScript, by creating or modifying existing code to support project needs and improve page behavior.
  • Redesigns & rebrands: Support website redesign projects and brand refreshes, including rebuilding, updating, testing, and maintaining rebranded page templates and elements.
  • Cross-team partnership: Partner with the Senior Web Designer, marketing strategists, writers, product stakeholders, IT, and compliance professionals to bring projects from concept to launch and keep live pages current.
  • Project management & detail orientation: Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, delivering accurate work on time despite shifting priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and self-QA across every deliverable.
  • AI-assisted development: Leverage AI tools to assist with coding, prototyping, troubleshooting, and problem-solving, improving speed and efficiency in front-end development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in web design, Graphic Design, Interactive/Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrable proficiency hand-coding HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to confidently read, modify, and adapt existing JavaScript code.
  • Graphic design skills with Adobe Photoshop (and familiarity with the broader Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Solid understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices, responsive design, and web accessibility standards.
  • Experience creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Hands-on experience with a content management system (CMS) and a digital asset management (DAM) platform, including content publishing, metadata management, and ongoing site maintenance.
  • Familiarity with using AI tools to assist with coding and development.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to QA live pages, validate product-page data and links, and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Adobe AEM: Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and the Adobe Creative Cloud platform is a strong plus.
  • Video production: Some video production experience (filming and/or editing) is an added bonus.
  • Financial services: Experience in a corporate or financial services environment and understanding of brand governance and compliance processes.
  • Front-end libraries: Familiarity with additional front-end technologies and libraries.
  • Exposure to a wide range of web, design, and digital marketing projects.
