Job Title: Digital Accessibility Specialist
Location: Boston, MA (Currently Fully Remote)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months (renewable)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Overview
Our client's Digital Services Department is seeking a Digital Accessibility Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert on digital accessibility. You will work closely with the Secretariat Accessibility Officer to maintain the accessibility of all public-facing websites, intranet, and digital services. This role involves collaboration across departments, vendors, and IT staff to uphold standards for accessibility and usability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as subject matter expert on digital accessibility, staying current with ADA Title II, WCAG X.X A/AA standards, and related legislation
  • Develop and maintain digital accessibility resources, standards, policies, and governance checkpoints
  • Collaborate with content contributors, IT staff, and vendors to embed accessibility best practices into workflows
  • Assist in creating communication plans to inform staff of their accessibility responsibilities
  • Oversee audit tracking and archiving for reporting purposes; maintain digital asset inventory
  • Manage multiple projects from concept through completion, adhering to schedules and deadlines
Required Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of WCAG X.X A and AA standards and ADA Title II compliance
  • Experience conducting audits using tools such as WAVE Toolbar, ARC Toolkit, Accessibility Insights for Web, and WebAIM Contrast Checker
  • Experience testing with assistive technologies including NVDA, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and ZoomText
  • Strong written and oral communication, organisational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience in web content management, UI/UX principles, and usability best practices
Preferred Skills
  • W3C Digital Accessibility Foundations course completion or equivalent training
  • IAAP certifications: Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS), Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA), or Accessible Document Specialist (ADS)
Location & Work Model
Currently fully remote. Worksite address: 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116. Final interview will be conducted in person.
Engagement Details
12-month contract, renewable. 40 hours per week. Initial contact via video or in person; final interview in person.
