Job description

Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Analyst with a background in Navy Combat and HM&E network systems. Specific experience and focus on fiber optics engineering naval shipboard fiber optics, including engineering, operations, and related activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Ship Change Documents (SCD), Engineering Change Requests, and Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) to identify non-compliances and impacts to performance.
  • Advise Customer of interface problems with solutions and designs.
  • Advise Customer of compliance, non-compliance or errors in design budgets and tolerances.
  • Review/prepare/initiate updates to System Engineering products, configuration management, NAVY Integrated logistics services (ILS) documentation.
  • Review/prepare response to technical support requests.
  • Ensure compatibility of all elements which make up a single system, and for identifying the interface requirements external to the system.
  • Review/propose changes to SCD, equipment specifications, installation and design standards, ship/system specifications, Naval Ships' Technical Manual (NSTM) and General Specifications for Overhaul of Surface Ships (GSO).
  • Interface with government and industry partners that support this effort.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the SOW, including the qualifications below; or US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher.
  • In addition, six (6) years of engineering experience with a DoD major weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems program. Experience in concept definition, DoDAF compliant architecture development, requirements definition, and initial and detailed system design activities. Systems engineering experience focused on requirements development and management of software systems. This includes experience related to identification, analysis, and documentation of complex systems involving DOD weapon, combat, and/or fire control systems. Two (2) years of concurrent experience with Navy surface or submarine shipboard weapons, combat, and/or fire control systems to include current Navy programs such as SLBM and Aegis. One Engineer/Analyst experienced with engineering tools such as DOORS, Change Synergy, and System Architect.
  • Six (6) years of engineering experience for System Engineer / Analyst, two (2) years specialized demonstrated expertise understanding and developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Interface Change Requests (ICD), Interface Design Specifications (IDS), Weapon Specifications (WS) and other system design/system integration documents for weapons control systems and surface combat, control and/or situational awareness systems. Demonstrated experience with weapon and combat system certification processes and requirements, specifically self-certification criteria for elements of weapons control systems and surface ship combat, control and/or situational awareness systems. Current Navy programs that apply to these specific systems engineering discipline include the Tomahawk Weapon System and Surface Ship Undersea Systems Warfare (USW) systems
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain SECRET Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the operations and safety procedures of a fiber optics lab, including fiber splicing.

Compensation Details:

US: $110,000 to $130,000
