Job description

Position Overview

The Operations Manager – Bulk Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of Enstructure’s off-port bulk storage facilities supporting maritime cargo. This role ensures the efficient handling, storage, processing, and distribution of bulk commodities while maintaining safety, compliance, and productivity standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational expertise, and a deep understanding of logistics within the maritime and port environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and plan vessel operations, cargo storage, equipment needs, stevedoring activities, and other activities as needed.
  • Coordinate and supervise field labor.
  • Assign personnel to daily jobs, provide guidance and oversight on how to perform the job, monitor to ensure that jobs are performed correctly and meet established targets/goals.
  • Ensure all personnel are working in a safe and environmentally appropriate manner. Support and maintain an effective safety culture and assist with safety training as needed.
  • Conduct site inspections, assess facilities for maintenance and repair needs.
  • Track and analyze metrics associated with vessel activity and productions goals, preparing all necessary documentation.
  • Working with the Safety Manager, investigate all workplace accidents.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, investigating and resolving customer issues.
  • Perform supervisory functions including performance appraisals, conducting staff meetings, and other events to foster effective communication and employee morale. Work with Human Resources on disciplinary matters timely.
  • Analyze budgets, forecasts, costs, and P&L of operational activities to identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Work with the Commercial Department to establish job costs, estimated productivity, labor and equipment requirements. Participate in sales calls/meetings as needed and assist with contract requirements.
  • Interact effectively with others including Customers, Senior Management and Port personnel.
  • Report equipment deficiencies and follow up with Maintenance timely on needed repairs.
  • Ensure all Federal, State, and/or Local reporting is completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of warehouse or terminal operations experience, preferably in bulk commodities or maritime logistics
  • Strong knowledge of bulk material handling and experience with heavy equipment
  • Experience working in or alongside port operations is highly preferred
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced, industrial environment
  • Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA) and environmental compliance standards
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Must have or meet the eligibility requirements to obtain a TWIC
  • Must have the ability to travel to other Company operations as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, based on vessel and cargo schedules
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with bulk commodities such as aggregates, salt, fertilizer, grain, or similar materials
  • Knowledge of trucking logistics, rail coordination, and intermodal operations
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications
Working Conditions
  • Primarily based in an industrial environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions
  • Frequent walking, climbing, and equipment oversight required
  • Must have the ability to climb stairs, ladders, and board vessels.
