While both roles require networking knowledge, Wdm roles are more specialized in optical communication technology, whereas Network Technicians work across diverse network environments.

What are WDMs?

WDM stands for Wavelength Division Multiplexing, which is a technology used in fiber-optic communications. WDMs allow multiple optical signals (each at a different wavelength) to be transmitted on a single optical fiber, increasing the overall capacity of the network.
