Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Work in a safe manner, recognize and correct Service Center hazards, and comply with WBC, OSHA and DOT safety requirements
  • Serve as a safe and productive member of the Asset Group
  • Confer with Service Center Supervisor / review work orders
  • Discuss service work with field superintendents. All field work must be approved and scheduled by the Service Center Supervisor or PM Technician
  • Inspect equipment to determine service / repair needs
  • Perform routine maintenance services and repairs for on-road vehicles, small tools (electric and gas) and light / heavy equipment ranging from portable generators to 40,000-pound track excavators when working in Service Center
  • Test components / systems utilizing analyzers, gauges and computerized diagnostic devices when working in Service Center
  • Follow manufacturer's documents and WBC checklists to ensure equipment is thoroughly examined and maintained
  • Test-drive to verify equipment is functioning properly after maintenance / repair is complete to ensure the piece does not return "problem not fixed"
  • Daily Equipment Maintenance / Safety Inspection Checklist - include a blank checklist in all equipment with checklist tubes or cabs upon completion of the work
  • Document service records
  • Welding when working in Service Center
  • Clean / wash equipment
  • Be available for emergency calls outside normal business hours
  • Perform job duties at Service Center location when not performing preventative maintenance services
  • Maintain supplies on preventative maintenance truck and be responsible for service / repair of truck
  • Make improvement recommendations to Service Center Supervisor regarding field-based services
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
  • Perform all assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes / tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times

ID21Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED - required
  • Automotive maintenance training / experience - required
  • Small tools (electric and gas) training / experience - required
  • Light / heavy equipment training / experience - required
  • Basic computer skills (typing, email, Internet) - required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Problem-solving, trouble-shooting, and mechanical reasoning
  • Analyzing and interpreting equipment service manuals, schematics, etc.

  • All-terrain material handler certification - required when offered by WBC
  • Aerial lift certification - required when offered by WBC
  • ASE Certification - desirable
