At Heritage Waterside, we aren't just an assisted living facility-we are a resort-style, Caribbean-inspired senior living community. Our mission is to provide our residents with "the Lime Life"-that wonderful feeling of clicking into vacation mode. We pride ourselves on delivering luxury care through integrity, culture, expertise, and unforgettable experiences. We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Community Driver to help our residents safely navigate their medical needs and community outings.
The Role
As our Community Driver, you are an essential part of the Heritage Waterside experience. You will be responsible for safely operating our 12-passenger community bus, as well as a company car, to transport our Assisted Living residents. More than just a driver, you are a chaperone and a friendly face, ensuring our seniors get to their destinations comfortably, safely, and on time.
Weekly Schedule Overview (15-25 hours/week)
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: Medical transport days (using the company car or bus as needed).
  • Mondays: Shopping excursions to local stores (Publix, Target, Walmart).
  • Select Days: Special community outings in coordination with the Activities Department.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Transportation: Carefully and confidently drive the 12-passenger community bus and company car around the Sanford area and surrounding communities.
  • Resident Assistance: Physically assist elderly residents as they board and exit the vehicles. This includes safely operating the handicap lift and providing stable support for those using the stairs.
  • Medical Appointment Concierge: On Tuesdays and Thursdays, drive residents to their doctor's appointments. You are required to escort the resident inside the medical facility to ensure they are checked in, and then return to pick them up when their appointment is complete.
  • Shopping & Outings: Facilitate Monday shopping trips, helping residents manage their purchases and safely get back on the bus. On select Fridays, work directly with the Activities Department to drive residents to various fun, off-site excursions.
  • Vehicle Care: Ensure vehicles have adequate gas, are kept clean to Heritage Waterside's luxury standards, and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Customer Service: Embody the Heritage Waterside "vacation mode" spirit by being warm, patient, engaging, and highly respectful of our residents at all times.
Qualifications
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with a clean, safe driving record. (Experience driving multi-passenger vehicles or shuttles is highly preferred).
  • Physical ability to assist elderly residents with mobility challenges, including bending, reaching, and standing, as well as the ability to operate a handicap lift.
  • Exceptional patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to work with the senior population.
  • Punctual and highly organized, with the ability to manage a daily schedule of multiple appointments.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
