Job Title: Construction Inspector

Job Description

The Construction Inspector will operate 100% in the field, traveling throughout the DC and VA areas. This role involves visiting homes to meet directly with homeowners and supporting project delivery for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure construction projects. This position does not require engineering experience but rather a solid construction history. The successful candidate will report to different sites daily and will not have a local office to report to, staying within VA or DC. The main team is based in Chicago, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and observe construction projects to ensure they are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Identify unforeseen conditions and communicate them to Sr. supervising construction staff.
• Maintain accurate field notes and daily reports while tracking schedule progress for projects.
• Perform basic estimating and acquire field information to aid in project design.
• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with design divisions, construction contractors, and sub-contractors.
• Demonstrate skills and judgment to inspect portions of projects under the supervision of Sr. construction staff and provide supervision to less experienced inspectors.

Essential Skills

• 1 to 3 years of inspection experience.
• Experience working on horizontal or civil construction projects.
• Skills in construction inspection, civil engineering, wet utilities, and water lines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Good attitude and willingness to work fully out of their car while traveling in the local market (DMV).

Work Environment

The work environment is on-site and on the road, full-time, with no office reporting. The leadership team is based in Chicago, Illinois, but the role is DMV-based, providing support throughout the area.

This is a Contract position based out of Washington, DC.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
