Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a motivated, creative, highly talented Structural Engineer Discipline Lead with experience in the dams and hydraulics structures to join the West Region Dams Team. The dams and reservoirs team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on water storage and hydropower dam projects. The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities. The candidate for this position will report to the AECOM Orange office and support work across southern California, Arizona, and Utah.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the technical execution of projects including structural stability and strength analyses, structural design, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic concrete structures such as spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures.
  • Prepare structural reports, drawings, and specifications for hydraulic concrete structures on dams, levees, and water conveyance structures.
  • Incorporate innovation in design and delivery, and support groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists with development of structural design documents and contract deliverables.
  • Ensure structural designs are completed in accordance with contractual obligations, applicable standards, and design documents, and confirm review and approval have been completed prior to release to client.
  • Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and ensure the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Lead responses to client’s comments on structural design elements of the deliverables.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to project team, clients, and technical review boards.
  • Interface with project teams, clients, and subcontractors through progression of the design deliverables.
  • Prepare structural engineering proposals, and assist in establishing structural scope, work plan, and work schedules.
  • Manage budgets, provide client updates, and perform general project management tasks. Anticipate potential budget and schedule impacts and initiate plans for alternative actions.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff, and support career growth opportunities for staff.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer license.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of related engineering experience
  • Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
