GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Service Technician position is responsible for the timely and accurate maintenance of residential softener and/or water treatment systems for Franklin Water Treatment customers. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Franklin Electric Quality System.
  • Follow detailed service instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Meets daily service schedule as assigned.
  • Uses available parts to assemble various water treatment equipment or kits according to operating instructions.
  • Safely operate the assigned Service vehicle.
  • Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and materials to Production Supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and organized Service vehicle appropriately supplied with the proper tools and parts.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Skills and Abilities
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with customers and colleagues especially related to water softener and water treatment processes.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to understand and resolve basic plumbing problems and repairs
  • Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Provides accurate work on a consistent basis meeting precise tolerances and standards.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.
  • Ability to work alone effectively under stress and in situations dangerous to self or others.
  • Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to stay organized and order materials around the warehouse.
 
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
  • 1-3 years or more experience working in a plumbing type position (preferred).
Computer Skills
  • Basic.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:
  • Continually required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand and to walk.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.
