Main Purpose of Job
The main role of this position,as the lead wetland\r\nreviewer for the Tidal Wetlands Division of the Water & Science\r\nAdministration ismanaging and implementing the laws, regulations, and\r\nprograms that restore and maintain the quality of Maryland's surface waters and\r\nprotect tidal wetland habitats and waterways.The workis guided by\r\nthe Code of Maryland Regulations Title 26, Subtitle 24, Tidal Wetlands\r\nRegulations; Code of the Public General Laws of Maryland Title 16 Wetlands and\r\nRiparian Rights and the Water Quality Certification requirements of the Water\r\nQuality Regulations.\r\nThe incumbent in this position\r\nwill be required to drive a State vehicle.\r\nDriver's License:A valid driver's license with no more than\r\nfive points is required to operate a State vehicle.\r\nOut-of-State Licenses:If you hold an out-of-state license, you must\r\nprovide a certified copy of your driving record from the appropriate Motor\r\nVehicle Administration at the time of appointment.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
The key responsibilities include, but not limited to:\r\nReviewing regulated activities impacting jurisdictional wetlands, regulated critical area buffers, and water quality certifications.\r\nAdministering the Army Corps of Engineers Maryland State Programmatic General Permit.\r\nRendering permit decisions and representing the Department in various forums.\r\nMaking recommendations on program development and planning projects.\r\nEducating and coordinating with the public and other government agencies.\r\nAssisting in the development and implementation of policies related to the regulation, management, and restoration of tidal wetlands and the Water Quality Certification program.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must satisfy the minimum qualifications to be considered for this position and move forward in the hiring process. Please read all requirements before applying.\r\nEducation: A Bachelor's degree from an\r\naccredited college or university in an environmental science or natural\r\nresources planning, management or development.\r\nExperience: One year of experience in natural\r\nresources planning or applied environmental science.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's\r\ndegree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional\r\nplanning, engineering, physical geography, or the physical, chemical,\r\nbiological sciences and one year of experience in natural resources planning or\r\napplied environmental science for the required education.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's\r\ndegree from an accredited college or university in natural resources planning,\r\nmanagement, administration, development, environmental, urban or regional\r\nplanning; resources economics or development; environmental\r\nsystem management; water or land resources planning and management;\r\nenvironmental landscape architecture; or the physical, biological,\r\nchemical or environmental sciences for the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces\r\nmilitary service experience as a commissioned officer in the general\r\nnatural resources management and biological sciences classifications or general\r\nnatural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in the\r\ngeneral natural resources management and biological sciences field of work on a\r\nyear-for-year basis for the required experience and education.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
