Job description

Requirements MOS Codes: 1171 (Marine Corps), 3E451 (Air Force), 92W (Army) Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED, and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, construction, or repair of water lines and mains, including one (1) year in a lead capacity. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state. Class "C" Water Operator's License issued by the State of Texas required within?eighteen (18) months of appointment.

General Purpose Under general supervision, supervise, coordinate,andparticipatein work activities of assigned crew engaged in the heavy construction, maintenance and repair of water lines and services. Typical Duties Supervise andparticipatein medium to heavy construction of water lines and services.?Involves:?Receive daily work orders and discuss assignments with supervisor.?Estimate and prepare equipment and material requirements list and arrange for delivery of materials, equipment,and traffic control necessary to complete work orders successfully.?Check area for damage andidentifyunderground utilities to beidentifiedbefore excavation.?Coordinate work with other utility entities.?Order safety equipment specific to assignment including traffic control, self-contained breathing apparatus, trenching, etc.?Supervise andparticipatein the installation, maintenance,and repair of water service lines, installation of forms,andthe pouring/finishing of concrete.?Ensure safety procedures are followed when working in trenches, excavations, or confined areas. Supervise andparticipatein laying pipes and connections.?Involves:?Supervise installation and maintenance of fire hydrants, cutting and machining of pipes and wet connections (tapping) to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.?Lay pipe andconnectionsfor new or existing systems.?Repair, remove,or replace damaged or obsolete lines.?Ensure the repair of main leaks and breaks.?Repair and replace valvesin accordance withspecifications,tradeand water regulations.?Inspect work in progress or completed work to ensure compliance with specifications.?Ensure all equipment isoperatedand maintained safely.?Respond to emergency calls.?Prepare activity and maintenance logs,keeprecords,andpreparereports
