WRA is seeking a Water Tank Engineer to join our Water & Wastewater Facilities Group in Fairfax, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, inspection, and rehabilitation of water storage tanks and related infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality engineering solutions, and ensuring projects meet client expectations, budget, and schedule. Responsibilities: Perform structural design and analysis of water storage tanks (elevated, ground, and standpipe types) Conduct site inspections, condition assessments, and prepare technical reports Prepare design documents, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering calculations Develop rehabilitation strategies for existing tank infrastructure, including coatings, structural repairs, and upgrades Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams Ensure compliance with applicable standards (AWWA, OSHA, local/state building codes) Assist with permitting processes and construction administration Support business development efforts, including proposals and presentations Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months 5-10 years of experience in water tank (or similar industrial structure) design, inspection, or rehabilitation Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., RISA, AutoCAD, Civil 3D) Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects independently Willingness to travel for field work and site inspections Preferred Qualifications: NACE or SSPC coatings certification (or ability to obtain) Confined space and fall protection training Experience with drone or robotic inspection technologies Benefits: WRA recognizes that employees play an important role in its success.
