The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Worksseeks an Assistant Superintendent for the Water and Sewer Division to help oversee water and sewer operations, regulatory compliance, and reliable service. The position acts as Superintendent in their absence and assists with emergency restoration activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, instruct, and train Division personnel
  • Manage water supply, treatment, distribution, and wastewater operations
  • Administer the automatic meter reading system
  • Develop plans to maintain and improve operations
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, DEP, MWRA, and Town regulations
  • Assist with operating and capital budgets; remain on call for emergencies
Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or six years equivalent education and experience
  • 2 years water/sewer utility management experience, including supervision and budget management
  • Distribution Class 2 and Treatment Class 1 certifications, or ability to obtain within one year
  • Knowledge of chemistry, biology, hydraulics, treatment, conveyance, construction, SCADA, and PLC systems
  • Valid Massachusetts Class D Driverโ€™s License; strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Comparable Operator-in-Training certification
