Job Description: Night Watch Youth Mentor

Time commitment: Part-Time with 24-32 hours/week

Report to: Night Watch Supervisor

Job Status: Non-Exempt


Schedule:

10:00pm-7:00am

Potential Split Shifts

10:00pm-3:00am or 3:00am-7:00am

The night watch staff is the person who is directly responsible for the physical safety and security needs of each student during nighttime hours as well as select clerical and custodial needs of the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and maintaining boundaries surrounding lights out and bed-time protocols
  • Performing assigned Q10 minute checks
  • Enforcing students rules as needed
  • Charting in each student's medical record under mentor
  • Communicating and reporting to shift supervisor
  • Supporting and assisting all other Telos departments in their job descriptions (i.e., nursing general cleaning and maintenance, answering telephones) as allowed by staffing ratios
  • Participating on assigned committees or special assignments
  • Assisting with runaway retrieval
  • Complying with and carrying out nighttime building and security protocols
  • Completing assigned cleaning chores
  • Assisting in filing and charting as assigned and as needed
  • Administration of medications as needed

Restrictions/Prohibitions:

  • No sleeping
  • Movies and games on computer are only allowed if they absolutely do not interfere with the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job
  • May only have headphone in one ear while on shift, with volume down to low

 Qualifications:

  • Ideal for former athletes, coaches, military personnel, or those comfortable with confrontation and de-escalation
  • Requires strong presence, emotional control, and ability to influence behavior in real time
  • Exceptional relationship skills
  • Timely, dependable, reliable
  • Ability to hold appropriate boundaries.
  • Ability to receive and carry out instruction.

  • Drivers license
  • Can pass a BCI
  • College education preferred
