Job description

Opportunity

The Joint Operations Center (JOC) Watch Operations Specialist will provide interim capacity and subject matter expertise. This role ensures continuous situational awareness of all Joint Task Force operations, readiness reporting, and supports the commander’s ability to command and control during contingency operations and crisis situations. The position involves operational planning, real-time monitoring, and coordination across multiple domains, including force protection, exercise planning, and operational analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement JOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Force Protection, Exercises, Training, Real-World Analysis, and Commander’s updates.
  • Establish and maintain a 24/7 Watch Floor to provide real-time operational significance to senior leadership.
  • Integrate intelligence applications onto the Watch Floor for enhanced coordination.
  • Conduct continuous communications checks with higher headquarters to ensure operational connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, restore VTC calls, update the theater Common Operating Picture (COP), the Commander’s update briefing and record theater-level or international events.
  • Identify and disseminate Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) messages and taskings to the command.
  • Incorporate exercise-related training into senior leadership daily briefs.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in military operations, support operations, staff duty, watch floor management, or joint operations center roles.
  • Experience with J3 operations and Joint Task Force structures.
  • Experience with operational reporting tools, VTC systems, and COP management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to coordinate with senior leadership and interagency partners.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Associate’s degree.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with AMHS messaging systems and intelligence integration.
  • Experience in exercise planning and operational analysis during real-world events.
  • Knowledge of Antiterrorism and Force Protection programs and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of Indo-Pacific theater of operations and multinational coordination.
  • Experience working in a high OPTEMPO, 24/7 operational environment and troubleshooting technical issues under pressure.
  • Possession of strong communication skills.
  • TS/SCI clearance.
Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation

Projected annual compensation range: $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (USD). Salary determined by factors including location, education, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements.
