WASTEWATER SYSTEM OPERATOR 1

Salary and Benefits: Full Time

  • Starting Entry level - $22.00/hr.

Consider joining our team of dedicated maintenance professionals and develop your skills to become a Maryland Certified Wastewater Systems Operator.

In addition to assisting with the routine upkeep and enhancement of the equipment and facilities at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, you will also learn through guided training and formal classroom instruction the duties and responsibilities of the Operator. You will learn the applicable local, state, and federal regulations surrounding wastewater treatment, the testing process and procedures to ensure compliance, and the proper operating function of the overall plant. You will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team while growing your skills and experience with the Town. Mechanical, electrical, or plumbing experience is a bonus.

The successful candidate must be a motivated individual having the skills or willing to learn skills in wastewater system operations. The Town will provide ongoing training to ensure the new employee is trained and licensed.

Requirements:

  • Have a valid driver’s license/record.
  • The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions.
  • The successful candidate must attend required training sessions and earn necessary licenses during their first year of employment.
  • Must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent and must be willing to submit to a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Normal work hours are Monday – Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm and must be able to work overtime as needed and in a “on-call” rotation.
