Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Superintendent provides leadership for the field operations on wastewater projects consisting of treatment plants, distribution systems, pump stations, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget. The Project Superintendent generally reports to the regional General Superintendent and may work with other superintendents as part of a larger project where additional shifts or specialty work is occurring. The Project Superintendent works alongside the Project Manager to ensure that contractual commitments are met on the project(s) to which they are assigned and to uphold the Company vision and mission. The Project Superintendent may oversee one or more projects concurrently depending on the size and scope of work within an operating region.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety
• Responsible for overall job safety per the SSHASP for each project to which they are assigned.
• Ensure project meets or exceeds all OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements to deliver incident and injury free outcomes.
• Ensure project is compliant with all safety protocols - AHA's, Toolbox Talks and other leading indicators.
• Participate in the preparation and presentation of all Toolbox Talks and Safety Huddles.
• Enter daily safety reporting in system such as Procore.
• Review Arrowsight footage and corrective action plans.
• Conduct routine safety leadership walks with safety personnel and implement corrective action plans as needed.
• Promote culture of safety for the entire project, including subcontractors and all other stakeholders.
• Verify Miss Utility One Call Center requests are made and completed prior to ground disturbing work.
• Ensure that test holes and other methods are employed to avoid incidents with all known utilities.
• Report any incidents with utility lines to the Project Manager.
• Lead Safety Stand-Downs and assist in root cause analysis investigations for any incidents and injuries
• Ensure good housekeeping and orderly storage of materials and equipment throughout the jobsite.
Financial
• Enter daily time sheet for each work shift into Heavy Job software (will train but needed as this is a requirement for the position).
• Ensure accuracy of time sheets and equipment for each crew.
• Able to read and use HeavyBid reports to assist with budget control in planning of work.
• Participate in cost projections with Project Manager.
• Make proper selection and efficient use of resources to ensure successful outcomes
Planning and Production
• Meet daily with General Foreman / Foremen to review schedule and all coordination.
• Lead the development of weekly project look-ahead schedules.
• Ensure that look-ahead schedules comport with the approved baseline CPM schedule.
• Coordinate all work with subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate all utility requirements with providers.
• Schedule labor and equipment with the General Superintendent and Shop Dispatcher each day by 1:00PM for the following day.
• Submit weekly rolling two week look ahead to General Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Participate in problem solving and value engineering planning.
• Help plan and provide final review of work packages with Project Engineer(s) for field use.
• Attend and participate in meetings with Owner, Project Partners, and other stakeholders.
• Meet regularly with Project Manager and/or Project Engineer(s) to review and coordinate upcoming work and needs such as equipment, material, and subcontractors.
• Understand bid assumptions and effectively communicate production outcomes to foremen.
Quality Control
• Coordinate with Project Engineer(s) to ensure conformance with contact documents.
• Coordinate with project team / 3rd party vendor for special inspections.
• Ensure that field operations are always using the latest revision of contract documents.
• Participate in regular SWPPP inspections and undertake corrective actions as needed.
• Promptly implement corrective actions to address non-conforming work.
• Ensure accountability for quality throughout the project.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering, or 4-Year Degree in Construction or Environmental Management with 7+ years of related experience with at least 3 years as a Superintendent, or 10+ years of direct field experience in wastewater construction as a supervisor with 5+ years as a superintendent. Experience as a supervisor on projects with a value of at least $10M preferred.
• Experience in Wastewater Construction (treatment plants, distribution systems, pump stations, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems; transportation infrastructure a plus).
• Capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented, highly organized, excellent follow-through capability.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and accurately process documents and perform duties in a timely manner.
• Familiar with electronic document access and construction management software.
• Proficient with interpreting plans and specs and developing construction schedules.
• Advocate for training and developing others.
• Valid Driver's License.
Compensation: $120,000 to $150,000 annually commensurate with experience
