Job Description:
Job Overview
The Waste Technician collects general Municipal Solid Waste (trash, recycling, medical and hazardous waste) generated at client facility and categorize by material type. Collection, hauling, store and processing of pre-sorted waste and disposal of post sorted waste into dumpsters, compactors, bailors, or trailers.
Roles & Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Required to collect trash, recycle, medical and or hazardous waste.
  • Will be trained on the collecting, consolidating and or sorting process.
  • Will be expected to collect, consolidate, and or sort materials into the assigned categories efficiently and accurately.
  • Inspects materials and sort items or materials according to type, size, condition, coloring, marking, or other characteristics.
  • Weighs materials and containers and keeps records of the total amount of waste collected as requested.
  • Maintains work area areas during the shift in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Sweep and pick up trash around dumpsters, utility courtyards, docks, and fence lines. Maintain a clean working area.
  • Collection, hauling and processing of pre-sorted waste and disposal of post sorted waste into dumpsters or compactors.
  • Establishes secondary jobs to ensure always busy
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures. Stop at risk behavior of others and self.
  • Perform work assignments in a team with other employees.
  • Perform repetitive tasks.
  • Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules.
  • Ensure you are up to date on all site required trainings.
  • Take direction and respond to supervision.
  • Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct.
  • Understand customer service and satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Skills and Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with 1-2 years recycling or solid waste experience in a company environment or equivalent combination of training and experiences.
Motor Vehicle Report
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
May be required to be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination records upon employment: Influenza, DTap (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis), Meningitis, Meningitis B, Polio, Rabies, Yellow Fever.
CPR/AED/First Aid Certification a plus
May be required to possess a valid driver's license
Complete all safety and task training certification
May be required to become forklift certified
May be required to have hazardous waste handler training per RCRA
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bilingual a plus
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with team
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
