General Description
The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department openings for a Solid Waste Collector Driver. The work involves the responsibility for collecting and transporting solid waste and/or recyclable materials from Solid Waste staging areas to processing facilities using semi-trucks and tractor-trailers.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a Unit Supervisor with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties. Does related work as required.
This classification requires a CDL Class A driver's license.
Work location: 1607 Eubanks Road Chapel Hill NC
* This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse clearance is required. Fitness for Duty Assessment is required. Background check required. Recent MVR required.

Full Performance of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND one (1) year of related experience in the operation of large over the road trucks with trailers; hauling waste material, recycling commodities and other related material.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) issued by the State of North Carolina.
All offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of the FMCSA Clearinghouse and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required.
A Fitness for Duty Assessment is required.
