Job Summary:
Trihydro, one of the top environmental and engineering consulting firms in the country, has an opening for a highly motivated Solid Waste Engineer. The successful candidate will join our Solid Waste team to lead and support projects in Colorado and surrounding states, assisting clients in the solid waste industry with effective, responsive, and safe solutions. This full-time in person office-based position requires approximately 40-45 hours per week and involves a blend of field work, strong communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this opportunity is ideal for you.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and independently manage civil and environmental engineering projects related to solid waste facilities, landfills and transfer stations, environmental permitting to maintain regulatory compliance, protect public health, and achieve client compliance goals.
  • Lead planning and design efforts for solid waste infrastructure, containment systems, and leachate and landfill gas management systems to create safe, efficient waste facilities that serve communities for decades.
  • Oversee contaminated site remediation projects including nature and extent studies, evaluation of corrective measures, implementation of remediation strategies, environmental due diligence assessments, and analysis and remediation of emerging contaminants.
  • Independently manage and evaluate data, perform analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal standards for regulatory compliance.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and reporting for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with a team of geologists, environmental scientists, engineers and subcontractors, assigning resources as necessary to complete project tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop work plans and health and safety plans, ensuring field staff have been appropriately briefed on relevant plan details.
  • Coordinate with Trihydro professionals, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients to execute environmental investigation and remediation projects.
  • Prepare investigation summary, remedy implementation, performance monitoring, and site closure reports for submittal to clients and agencies.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Solid Waste team by developing new service offerings and best practices.
  • Help shape the direction of our practice by building client relationships and identifying new project opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-10+ years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and the ability to obtain licensure in additional states if necessary
  • Direct industry employment history managing projects, budgets, and preparing cost estimates in the solid waste and remediation fields.
  • Experience implementing solutions in accordance with Subtitle D of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and State regulations
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with clients and project team members.
  • Initiative and motivation to complete project deliverables on schedule and within budget.
  • The ability to travel to client sites and other Trihydro offices.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety practices and a commitment to safe operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling tools is helpful).
  • Experience with AutoCAD software, Civil3D, Leapfrog, or other 3D modeling software is a plus.
  • The ability to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to technical challenges.
  • Desire and initiative to grow our solid waste practice by strengthening existing client relationships and identifying new project opportunities in target regions.
  • A clean driving record.

The salary information shown below is a general guideline ONLY. Salaries are based on candidates' experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $85,000- $130,000
