Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving to support daily warehouse operations by managing driver check-in/out, documentation, and front desk activities within the receiving department.

This role serves as the central point of coordination for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, efficient driver processing, and clear communication between drivers, warehouse staff, and leadership. Unlike a dispatcher role, this position is focused on on-site operational flow, documentation accuracy, and front desk management, rather than route planning or scheduling transportation.

The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment with high driver volume.

Key Responsibilities

Driver & Front Desk Operations

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all drivers arriving on-site
  • Manage driver check-in and check-out processes efficiently
  • Verify appointments and coordinate dock door assignments with warehouse staff
  • Maintain a professional and organized front desk environment

Documentation & Compliance

  • Collect, review, and verify Bills of Lading (BOLs) and shipping/receiving paperwork
  • Ensure all documents are complete, accurate, and properly signed prior to release
  • Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems for all records
  • Track discrepancies, missing paperwork, and delays, and escalate as needed

Warehouse Coordination

  • Act as a liaison between drivers and warehouse teams to support smooth loading/unloading operations
  • Communicate dock availability, delays, and workflow updates clearly and professionally
  • Confirm load readiness with warehouse personnel prior to driver release

Data Entry & Reporting

  • Accurately log all inbound and outbound shipments
  • Enter data into WMS, Excel, or internal systems
  • Support warehouse leadership with reporting and administrative tasks

Payment Processing

  • Collect and process lumper payments (cash, check, or electronic methods)
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate transaction records

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
  • 2+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics support, or front desk coordination
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a high-volume environment
  • High attention to detail, especially with documentation and data entry
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, email, data entry systems)
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with urgency while maintaining accuracy
  • Comfortable enforcing processes and procedures with drivers in a respectful manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling Bills of Lading (BOLs) and receiving/shipping documentation
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Experience processing lumper services or driver-related payments

Compensation

  • $19 – $23 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Overtime required on Sundays as needed
