Purchasing Agent Job Discription
Penco Electrical Contractors, Inc. has been serving the metro Atlanta area since 1983. We believe in achieving a high level of performance and value finding the perfect candidate to join our team.
We are seeking an experienced purchaser to join our team, to help improve the accuracy and timeliness of the success of each of our projects.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services
  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of purchased items, cost, deliveries, product performance, and inventories (items in our warehouse (returns from sites/release waiting for install))
  • Maintain and expand list of vendor and subcontractor contacts and relations to source materials and equipment.
  • Negotiate or renegotiate with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives
  • Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or future markets
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  • Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action
  • Review projects with the project team to establish scope of work for pricing
  • Pre-Order materials as appropriate prior to starting the job and working with project team to coordinate deliveries
  • Coordinate with the project team on long lead item deliveries
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of issues, trace and follow-up
  • Attend Job start up and regular WIP meetings
  • Review job cost summaries with the PM monthly and at the end of the project
  • Works closely with accounting - authorizing payments and managing purchasing expenses with meticulous record-keeping

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction purchasing experience
  • Knowledge of basic electrical material
  • Ability to read Specifications for each project and order accordingly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills, excellent in other Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any systems used at Penco Electric
  • Detail Oriented and organized
  • Must provide valid (non-expired) identification for legal employment in the U.S
  • Must have own means of transportation
