Job Title: Industrial Painter/ Backup Driver

Department: Rental Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: N. Las Vegas, NV Reports To: Warehouse and Transportation Manager


Position Summary

The Industrial Painter/Backup Driver is primarily responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing aluminum trusses, metal bins, and other metal products using industrial spray-painting techniques. This position ensures painted products meet quality standards through proper surface preparation, coating application, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety procedures. As needed, this position serves as a backup box truck driver, supporting local deliveries and pickups, assisting with loading and unloading, maintaining delivery documentation, and ensuring safe and professional transportation operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working effectively in both warehouse and transportation environments.


Key Responsibilities as a Painter

· Prepare metal surfaces for painting by cleaning, degreasing, sanding, grinding, and removing rust or old coatings.

· Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.

· Mix paints, primers, and coatings according to manufacturer specifications.

· Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray-painting equipment.

· Operate and maintain spray guns, pressure pots, pumps, and other painting equipment.

· Inspect finished products to ensure proper coverage, color consistency, and quality standards.

· Touch up painted surfaces as needed.

· Monitor paint inventory and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishment.

· Maintain a clean and organized paint area and work environment.

· Follow all safety procedures related to painting operations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Dispose of paint waste and cleaning materials according to environmental and company regulations.

· Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.


Key Responsibilities as a Driver

· Safely operate a box truck to make local deliveries and pickups in accordance with established schedules.

· Plan and execute efficient delivery and pickup routes to minimize delays and maximize productivity.

· Assist with loading and unloading trucks when needed, ensuring all items are properly secured for transport.

· Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups, obtaining signatures and documenting discrepancies.

· Communicate promptly with the Logistics Manager regarding challenges or schedule changes.

· Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and company safety standards at all times.

· Perform routine inspections of the box truck, reporting maintenance issues promptly.

· Respond professionally to customer inquiries or concerns during deliveries.

· Support other reasonable tasks assigned by management to enhance transportation operations.


Requirements

· Previous industrial, manufacturing, automotive, or commercial spray-painting experience preferred.

· Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and paint application methods.

· Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures.

· Experience using airless, conventional, or HVLP spray equipment preferred.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, meeting all legal and company requirements.

· Prior experience operating box trucks or similar vehicles.

· Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.

· Excellent organizational skills to manage routes and schedules.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50-75 lbs. independently and heavier loads with team assistance.

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, climb, and reach regularly throughout the workday.

· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely operate tools and equipment.

· Stamina to perform physical tasks for extended periods, often in fast-paced or time-sensitive environments.

· Ability to work in varied conditions, including indoor warehouse environments and outdoor job sites, sometimes in inclement weather.

· Must be able to wear respirators, protective clothing, and properly use all required PPE (personal protective equipment), including safety toe shoes, and gloves.


Working Conditions

This position is performed in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations, frequent exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Shift schedules may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on business needs.
