Purpose of Job
The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling of goods and materials within the warehouse. This role involves various tasks such as receiving, storing, picking, packing, and creating shipping documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Receiving and Inspection:
  • Unload incoming shipments and verify their contents against purchase orders or packing slips.
  • Inspect received goods for accuracy, damage or defects and to report any discrepancies to the Inventory Manager.
  • Properly label and store items in designated locations, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible and identifiable.
  • Ensure all documentation follows correct procedures
  1. Order Fulfillment:
  • Pick and pack orders according to Bills of Material or internal requirements.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track and manage inventory.
  • Prepare and label shipments for logistics team members, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Maintain inventory records and perform cycle counts and stock takes.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins.
  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards
  1. Shipping and Handling:
  • Prepare shipping documentation, including packing slips and shipping labels.
  • Load and unload trucks and containers using manual and mechanical methods.
  1. Equipment Operation:
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently Follow health and safety regulations and company guidelines at all times.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with other warehouse staff, supervisors, and management to meet stock requirements and operational goals.
  • Communicate effectively to resolve issues and ensure smooth warehouse operations.
  • Assist with data entry and basic warehouse documentation.
  • Support Plant management and team with other duties as assigned.
Skills/Job Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in warehouse operations is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience with warehouse inventory management.
  • Skills:
    • Basic computer skills (knowledge of inventory systems is a plus).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software NetSuite.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
      • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Certifications: Forklift certification or other relevant certifications a plus
  • Physical Requirements
    • Standing, walking for long periods of time
    • Lifting and moving items, sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs or more
