Job Title: Logistics / Warehouse Manager

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Position Summary:


Our client is seeking a hands-on Logistics / Warehouse Manager to lead daily operations in a high-paced distribution environment in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role owns the full flow of product through the facility, from receiving and put away through picking, staging, and outbound shipping, while keeping safety, accuracy, and on-time performance at the center of everything the team does.


The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, leads from the floor, and knows how to keep a fast-moving operation organized and accountable. This individual will manage warehouse staff and shift leads, coordinate inbound and outbound freight, and drive continuous improvement across processes, layout, and inventory accuracy.


Responsibilities:


  • Direct day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, put away, picking, packing, staging, and shipping in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Lead, schedule, and develop warehouse associates and shift leads, setting clear performance expectations and holding the team accountable to them.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including carrier scheduling, dock management, and on-time shipment performance.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and disciplined use of warehouse management systems.
  • Enforce safety programs, housekeeping standards, and OSHA compliance across the facility, including forklift and equipment operations.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, slotting, and workflows to improve throughput, reduce errors, and control labor costs.
  • Monitor KPIs such as order accuracy, fill rate, on-time shipping, and productivity, and take corrective action when performance slips.
  • Partner with purchasing, customer service, and transportation teams to resolve issues and keep customer commitments.
  • Manage equipment maintenance, supplies, and vendor relationships supporting warehouse operations.


Qualifications:


  • Proven experience managing warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead hourly teams and shift supervisors, with a track record of building accountability and low turnover.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control practices, including cycle counting.
  • Experience coordinating carriers, freight schedules, and dock operations for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA requirements, forklift safety, and warehouse safety programs.
  • Comfortable with KPIs, labor planning, and continuous improvement methods such as lean or 5S.
  • A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent operations experience will be considered.
  • Ability to be based in or relocate to the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area.
