Job description

Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and managing all daily warehouse operations in support of residential and commercial moving services. This role ensures the warehouse operates in an organized, safe, efficient, and accountable manner, supporting residential and commercial crews, inventory control, materials management, fleet readiness, and compliance with Company standards.

The Warehouse Manager provides hands-on leadership for warehouse staff and residential moving crews, maintains strict inventory controls for household goods and packing materials, enforces safety and cleanliness standards, and ensures all warehouse-related documentation and daily timesheets are completed accurately and on time.


Reporting Structure

Reports To: Senior Vice President (Regional Branches)

Supervises: Residential and Commercial Warehouse Staff

Works Closely With: Residential and Commercial Operations, Fleet Management, Customer Service, and Field Operations


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Facility Management

  • Oversee all daily warehouse operations related to residentialand commercialmoving and storage.
  • Maintain a clean, structured, and orderly warehouse environmentat all times.
  • Ensureall storage areas, vaults, racks, containers, and materials are clearly labeled and properlyidentified.
  • Conduct daily opening and closing checks of the warehouse, including doors, units, equipment, and security systems.
  • Prepare warehouse, trucks, and equipment each morning to ensure residentialand commercialcrews dispatch on time.

Inventory Control & Storage Management

  • Maintainaccurate, up-to-date inventory records for residential household goods,commercial storage,storage vaults, containers, and packing materials.
  • Ensure proper intake, labeling, inventorying, and placement of all residentialand commercialstorage items.
  • Enforce procedures for items entering and leaving the warehouse, including releases, deliveries, and transfers.
  • Perform regular physical inventories and audits to ensure accuracy and prevent loss or damage.
  • Coordinate with operations and customer service to ensure inventory records align with customer accounts and storage agreements.

Materials & Packing Supplies Management

  • Manage packing materials inventory (boxes, pads, wrap, tape, specialty materials).
  • Coordinate issuance, tracking, and replenishment of materials to residentialand commercialcrews.
  • Ensurematerialsusage is accurately documented and communicated for billing purposes.

Fleet & Equipment Oversight

  • Direct and monitor maintenance of warehouse and building equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, roll-up doors, lighting, and related assets.
  • Ensureall equipment and vehicles are secured, operational, and compliant with safety standards.

Administrative, Documentation & Timesheet Accountability

  • Ensure all warehouse paperwork, inventories, storage records, and documentation are completed accurately and filed in theappropriate systems.
  • Review and approve warehouse-related, paperwork, and documentation prior to submission.
  • Ensure all warehouse employees complete daily timesheets accurately and on time.
  • Review timesheets daily for accuracy, completeness, and proper job coding prior to payroll submission.
  • Enforce accountability for time tracking and address deficienciesimmediately.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Promote and enforce all safety policies, warehouse procedures, and residential handling standards.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA, Company, and industry standards.
  • Ensure forklift certifications, equipment inspections, and safety documentation are current.
  • Address safety concerns, damages, or incidents promptly and escalate asrequired.

Leadership, Communication & Support

  • Communicate daily with Residential Operationsand Commercial Operationsregardingwarehouse status, staffing, inventory, and issues.
  • Lead, train, and develop warehouse staff,residentialcrewsand commercial crewsto meet performance, safety, and customer service expectations.
  • Serve as an on-call contact outside of normal business hours as needed.
  • Provide hands-on operational support to residentialand commercialcrews whenrequired.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of warehouse or operations management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience managing residential storage, inventory, or materials.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in residential moving or household goods storage.
  • Forklift operation and warehouse safety experience.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems, storage tracking, or warehouse management tools.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Warehouse-based role with regular physical activity.
  • Requires lifting heavy items (100+ lbs.), climbing, kneeling, crouching, and prolonged standing.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and warehouse conditions.
  • High levelof accountability, consistency, and attention to detailrequired.
