                 I. FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Purpose

The purpose of this job is to accurately and efficiently receive warehouse stock and ship all merchandise related to the distribution function of the company and serve as a company representative, promoting the reputation of United Central Industrial Supply in a positive manner.  

Primary Functions

     Perform assigned tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, receiving and storage of merchandise, picking and packing of customer orders and stock transfers.

     Perform inventory cycle counts as requested and physical inventory as scheduled.

     Keep supervisor informed of shortages, overages or damaged merchandise and unresolved customer complaints.

     Verify accurate count of incoming or outgoing materials and merchandise.

     Maintain accurate open and closed purchase order receipt files.

     Promptly report any major differences in book quantities versus actual on hand quantities of merchandise.

     Promptly report stock runs or stock outages to immediate supervisor. 

     Promptly report vendor over shipments or duplications to immediate supervisor.

     Ensure the integrity of data entry on the receipt of goods process.

     Assist manager in the safeguarding of inventory against pilferage or theft.

Additional Functions

     Maintain neat personal appearance; always remain courteous and service minded in dealing with customers.

     Maintain good housekeeping and report any dangerous situations, malfunctions of equipment or safety hazards to immediate supervisor.

     Maintain good housekeeping in the warehouse, and other locations as required.

     May pack orders, write labels, weight cartons, prepare parcel post and UPS shipment forms.

     Perform counter sales, inventory control and other departmental duties to        include delivery of merchandise as required.

     Assist in taking the annual inventory; initiate receiving or shipping reports as required.

     Any other duties that supervisor feels necessary to fulfill the objectives of the company.

Required Equipment

     Various sized delivery vehicles within legal limits.

     Forklift (Various sizes).

     Other related items such as dollies, binders, chains, etc.

     Company computer system.

     Calculator

Minimum Required Qualifications

     High school diploma or equivalent.

     Be able to complete company training program.

     Possess good communication skills.

     Possess valid drivers license.

Required Communication

     Read, write and fully comprehend delivery tickets, packing lists, invoices, transfer request, special material instructions, written and oral messages, M.S.D.S. literature and other information pertaining to the job.

II. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands

     Be able to lift objects of varying weight and carry a distance of twenty yards.

     Be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.

     Be able to climb up and down trucks, ladders, shelving, etc.

Working Environment

     Work in varying temperatures according to seasonal changes.

     Work in a warehouse environment with merchandise in various stages of resale.

     Work at mining and industrial locations with different terrains and harsh conditions.

     Operate vehicles at remote mining locations on sometimes narrow, curvy and rough roads.

Safety Requirements

     This position has the potential to be life threatening to both the performer and co-workers, if proper safety policies, precautions and regulations are not followed.

     Follow proper procedures in reporting accidents in accordance with company policies.

     Use of safety apparel and equipment as required by law and company policy.

Possible Work Hazards

     Work around fast pace warehouse that includes the moving of heavy and large merchandise.

     In any industrial setting there is a constant need for alertness to changes in the surrounding environment.

                  III. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Location

     United Centrals Beckley warehouse and the territory that warehouse serves.

     Other locations as assigned.

Work Schedules

     Normal work hours are 7 AM - 4 PM Monday through Friday, weekends as required.

     Scheduling will be determined by management based on company requirements.

     Overtime will be required and is expected when beneficial to the company and/or scheduled by the supervisor.

Accountabilities

     Responsible for the safeguard of all company assets to include vehicles, equipment, merchandise, cash, checks, forms and documents entrusted to the employee.

     Maintain confidentiality concerning sales, pricing policies and procedures, customer lists, credit information, correspondence and any other information which might be harmful to the company, customers or other employees if revealed.
