We're looking for a Warehouse Supervisor of Inbound and Inventory Control responsible for assisting the warehouse management team in coordinating warehouse operations in the Inbound and Inventory Control departments.ย  This role supervises, trains and develops warehouse staff in order to meet current and future needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning and control of the Inbound and Inventory Control departments, enforcing company policies, rules and regulations.ย  Responsible for the safety and security of all employees conducting operation activities within the facility.
  • Supervises inbound and inventory control employees in accordance with Lawson's policies and applicable laws, including: planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints; and resolving problems in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Lawson's management.
  • Ensures the work team understands and supports the focus on operational excellence.ย  Mentors and coaches the work team in their decision-making efforts.ย  Builds alignment of the work team by brainstorming to provide solutions to operational problems.ย  Encourages participation, effectively listening to the work team and explaining difficult issues.ย ย 
  • Advises management of problems, requesting guidance and counsel as appropriate, recommending solutions to warehouse operational problems.ย  Assists with the creation and maintenance of Standard Work Instructions.ย  Identifies opportunities for long-term improvements.
  • Trains and develops employees, maintaining accurate and timely records of all training.ย 
  • Trains and enforces strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario regulations as they apply to warehouse operations.ย  Maintains a working knowledge of all safety guidelines and regulations, especially those related to the handling and storage of hazardous materials, both domestic and international.
  • Promotes quality and accuracy standards in all warehouse functions.ย  Assists with the creation, enforcement, and achievement of Production and Quality Standards.
  • Coordinates work activities within warehouse, actively building relationships across functions.ย  Communicates to plan and control warehouse activities in relation to company programs and goals.ย ย 
  • Promotes the efficient utilization of warehouse space, equipment and supplies.ย  Ensures the warehouse equipment is used and maintained in an efficient and safe manner.ย  Ensures the maintenance of Lawson's facility and grounds.
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate and current warehouse inventory records, assisting in the oversight of the necessary functions which control these inventory records.
  • Works within budgetary/ financial objectives set by warehouse management.
  • Inbound
  • Responsible for the supervision, planning and control of the Inbound Materials Department, enforcing company policies, rules and regulations.ย ย 
  • Ensures the efficient flow of Raw Materials and Finished Goods throughout the Packaging, Putaway Staging, Crossdock, Customer Returns and Quality Control Areas. Inclusive of the efficient flow of all receipts and Specials orders.ย  Sets goals and priorities for the work team to ensure accurate, efficient and timely task completion.ย ย 
  • Ensures the on-time receiving of material and efficient means, with a daily goal of zero to .25 days carry over.ย  Ensures all inbound shipments are properly packaged, labeled, marked and placarded.ย  Ensures all shipping containers meet or exceed Department of Transportation Regulations.
  • Inventory Control
  • Maintains overall accuracy of inventory, including performing review analysis for item profiling, developing and reviewing pick sequencing strategies,ย  and writing and testing SAP install scenarios. Recommends appropriate inventory/stock movements based upon demand, promotions, and seasonality.
  • Reviews picking history and replenishment productivity for continuous improvement of warehouse activities. Develops SAP variants and queries to assist daily operations.ย  ย 
  • Ensures Cycle Counting activities are performed in accordance with Company policy and all annual count requirements are achieved.
  • Problem solves material variances and discrepancies, assisting with customer-facing issues.
  • Communicates regularly with warehouses on status changes and dispositions. Traces missing product via SAP activity analysis.ย 
  • Assists with reconciliation of warehouse inventory discrepancies and provides root cause analysis. Makes adjustments to inventory in SAP.
  • Performs ad hoc product audits in a timely manner as requested.
  • Assists with and performs miscellaneous projects as assigned by the warehouse management.ย 
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Associate's degree from a two-year College or technical school, bachelor's degree preferred, with five years' related warehouse experience including at least one year in a supervisory position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.ย  SAP or equivalent ERP experience,ย  MS Office, and Lean experience are preferred.ย 
  • Strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, and Word.ย  SAP WM/MM highly desired.ย  Warehouse Management System (WMS)/ Transportation Management System (TMS) knowledge a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as effective listening skills
  • Able to lead and influence others to achieve business objectives
  • Able to lead department meetings to provide feedback, goals and operational updates
  • Able to think strategically and make fact-based decisions in a timely manner with limited information and a rapid assimilation of the facts
  • Able to analyze data with an operational understanding to identify, prevent, and solve problems
  • Able to create and interpret production reports to discover trends
  • Able to multi-task, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
  • Certified to drive sit-down, reach and/or stand-up material handling lift trucks
  • Experience with lean processes or Six Sigma certification is preferred.
