Job description

Position Summary

The Distribution Specialist is responsible for supporting the efficient flow of inventory through receiving, storage, order fulfillment and shipping operations within the warehouse. This role ensures accuracy in processing and tracking goods by using warehouse management systems, performing quality checks and maintaining proper documentation throughout all stages of distribution. The position plays a key role in meeting delivery timelines, maintaining safety and organization standards and ensuring overall operational accuracy and efficiency.

Hours: In-Person | Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Processing Inventory

  • Safely receive and unload incoming shipments, freight and raw materials from delivery trucks and containers.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage or defects and verify accuracy against purchase orders, bills of lading and shipping documents.
  • Accurately record received items in warehouse management systems (WMS), apply barcode labels and maintain required shipping and inventory documentation.
  • Organize and store products in designated warehouse locations while identifying, documenting and reporting inventory discrepancies or damaged goods.
  • Order Fulfillment (Picking & Packing)
  • Accurately pick items from warehouse locations using pick lists while utilizing barcode scanners and WMS to track inventory and order status.
  • Inspect items for damage or defects and verify accuracy of product details, quantities and documentation throughout the fulfillment process.
  • Package, label and stage completed orders for shipment while performing final audits and reporting any discrepancies or inventory issues.

Shipping Operations

  • Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading (BOL) and tracking information, ensuring compliance with carrier and company requirements.
  • Schedule pickups and communicate with freight carriers, couriers and internal teams to ensure timely shipments.
  • Safely load outbound shipments onto delivery vehicles using proper material handling techniques and equipment.

Equipment Operation & Safety

  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and order pickers (as certified/required).
  • Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain clean, organized and hazard-free workstations, loading docks and warehouse aisles.

Warehouse Maintenance & Housekeeping

  • Sweep, mop and maintain warehouse floors using manual and industrial cleaning equipment to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Promptly address spills and hazards to maintain workplace safety and prevent accidents.
  • Remove trash, recyclables, pallets and packaging materials to keep work areas organized and accessible.
  • Support overall facility cleanliness by restocking supplies and maintaining interior and exterior work areas, including entryways and grounds.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and warehouse safety standards, with forklift certification and ability to maintain certification upon hire.
  • Basic computer skills with ability to learn warehouse management systems (WMS) and/or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and order processing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comply with all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and adhere to established operational, safety and quality standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods and perform physical warehouse duties, including lifting, bending and moving throughout the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations systems, including barcode scanning, inventory control processes, WMS, or ERP platforms.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment and/or forklift certification (e.g., pallet jacks, order pickers, forklifts)
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, including freight coordination, BOLs, order fulfillment, and strong teamwork and communication skills in a warehouse setting
