Summary

The Baler Operator, operates the baler machine for the proper disposal of all waste materials and recyclable paper products throughout the printing facility. In addition to full responsibility for the Baler, the Baler/Material Handler also assisst within the facility with the internal transport of materials throughout the plant floor and the warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate the baler in an efficient manner following all safety protocols
  • Unwind and shred all end rolls of paper thoughout shift
  • Safely operate standard warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Separate recyclable materials from non-recyclables and separate different types of materials to maximize value of  materials
  • Weigh and record bales of product and keep accurate records of what is recycled
  • Must maintain the cleanliness of the baler and the baler room throughout the shift
  • Dispose of excess materials when directed by Shift Manager
  • Help out in other departments, as needed
  • Clean machine at the end of each day
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, along with a minimum of 1 year work experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the experience working with pallet jacks required, experience with forklifts desired
  • Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity
  • Take personal responsibility for productivity, quality and timeliness of work
  • Effectively communicate (and listen) clearly, professionally, politely and persuasively in all situations; respond well and in a reasonable, timely manner
  • Challenge conventional practices and use creativity and information to lead, innovate, problem solve, and implement ideas to contribute to the growth of the organization

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb. In addition requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 40 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
