Job Summary

The Warehouse Associate - Wire Cutter supports the operation functions of wire cutting in the warehouse. Runs the wire machine and maximizes cuts per reel. Identifies specific wire based on reel labels and maintains batch codes. Identifies top and bottom footages on cuts completed. Updates and maintains the wire cut log and daily wire machine inspection sheets. Fills special orders and/or backorders as material is received. Fills orders for delivery to customers. Follows up with appropriate departments for wire-material damages and shortages.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Runs the wire machine in a safe and effective manner.
  • Identifies specific wire based on reel labels and maintains batch codes.
  • Identifies top and bottom footages on cuts completed. 
  • Performs basic math to maximize cuts per master reel.
  • Updates and maintains the wire cut log.
  • Maintains daily wire machine inspection sheets, as appropriate.
  • Maintains/utilizes partial reels/coils to fill customer orders.
  • Distributes material to the proper stock locations. 
  • Fills special orders and/or backorders as material is received. 
  • Follows-up with appropriate departments for wire material damages and shortages.   
  • Checks and packs material to be delivered. 
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area for a safe work environment.
  • Maintains assigned inventory stock locations making sure material put away has the correct locator and the shelves are kept neat and orderly. 
  • Fills orders for delivery to customers. 
  • Assures all batched managed material is labeled accurately and inventoried, as needed.
  • Operates and maintains all equipment in a safe manner and adheres to all local, state, and federal traffic and safety regulations.
  • Supports the operations functions of the warehouse.
  • Informs proper departments of “stock outs”, inventory discrepancies, and other inventory problems or concerns.

Non-essential Functions

  • May assist picking/packing orders for customers as needed. 
  • Assists with loading and unloading of trucks. 
  • Notifies supervisor of any building or equipment maintenance, repair needs, and/or any security concerns.
  • Assists with other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
  • 2 year business/trade degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior warehouse distribution experience including forklift operation and knowledge of electrical products/systems preferred.  
  • If the employee will be driving, the following criteria must be met – 
    •     candidate must be at least 21 years of age, 
    •     possess a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicle and current medical certification may be required. 
  • PC working knowledge for Windows, Internet, email, and SAP software is a plus.
