Job Description:
The Warehouse/Counter Associate is responsible for pulling orders for delivery and customer pick up, verifying the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers for accuracy, unloading stock inventory from freight/shipping companies and/or vendors, validating quantities and items to packing slips and stocking inventory. The Warehouse/Counter Associate supports the Store Branch Manager by meeting branch sales goals by providing excellent customer service with direct purchases through the store.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accurately pulls customer orders to load into Company delivery vehicle or customer vehicle.
  • Unload inventory from freight/shipping companies and/or vendors.
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping documents and/or invoices.
  • Service customers at the counter by taking orders and entering them into the system accurately.
  • Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sales items as well as new products.
  • Attends product knowledge meetings as required by management.
  • Quickly solve customer problems.
  • Participate in scheduled physical inventory and weekly cycle counts.
  • Keep merchandising and counter areas clean and welcoming.
  • Assists Store Branch Manager as needed.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • The individual needs to frequently move about inside the warehouse to load, unload, stock and move materials throughout the warehouse. The individual needs to ascend/ descend a ladder to stock shelves and acquires product to fill orders. The individual frequently positions self to gather product from shelves that are positioned near ground level and overhead. They frequently operate a forklift, tow motor, pallet jack, cart and dolly to move product.
  • While performing other duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 60 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to move about inside the store/warehouse.
  • They frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and employees while interacting.
  • The individual must regularly push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual normally works in a store/warehouse with a controlled climate. The noise level in this environment is usually low to moderate. This individual will occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The individual may operate a forklift, if certified.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability, and physical demands required. Experience and Requirements:
  • Education and/or Experience- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required.
  • Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers (internal and external). Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, customers, co-workers, vendors, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in electronic mail, record keeping, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. This role requires a beginner's level of knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Other Qualifications- Valid driver's license is required in the state where hired. Acceptable MVR is required. Forklift certification or ability to get certified within first 30 days is required.
