Job description

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily operations across two warehouse locations, ensuring efficient and accurate product handling, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and coordinating closely with the accounting and purchasing departments to study and control inventory. This role manages all receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping activities while enforcing safety, quality, and procedural compliance. The Supervisor provides direct leadership to Warehouse Leads, material handlers, wrappers, and warehouse associates, ensuring effective workflow, communication, and accountability. With the removal of the Warehouse Manager role, the Warehouse Supervisor now holds full ownership of day-to-day operations and serves as the primary escalation point for warehouse issues, partnering with other departments to support overall plant performance. In the Supervisor’s absence, duties are covered by the Production Manager or Warehouse Lead.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Operational Leadership

· Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment for all employees.

· Direct and oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, inventory management, and material staging.

· Establish and maintain a steady, purposeful presence on the warehouse floor to support productivity and accountability.

· Serve as the primary escalation point for warehouse issues related to staffing, inventory, shipping, safety, or equipment.

· Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and continuity by reviewing operational status, staffing levels, and open issues.

· Serve as the primary authority and decision-maker for warehouse operations during assigned shifts.

Supervision and Team Leadership

· Directly supervise Warehouse Leads, material handlers, wrappers, and warehouse associates; provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.

· Coordinate staffing coverage, including PTO planning and absence coverage, to maintain uninterrupted operations.

· Conduct or support daily and shift-start communications as needed to review priorities, performance, and safety concerns.

· Hold associates and leads accountable for compliance with safety, shipping/receiving, quality, housekeeping, and documentation standards.

· Support operational continuity by providing coverage and leadership support during absences, peak demand periods, or staffing shortages.

· Participate in formal performance evaluations and support merit and pay review processes as required.

Inventory and Accuracy

· Maintain ownership of inventory accuracy and control, ensuring cycle counts are properly planned, executed, reviewed, and corrected.

· Review and approve inventory adjustments and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved.

· Ensure inventory accuracy targets (greater than 99%) are consistently met.

· Partner with Accounting and Purchasing to support inventory control, reconciliation, and reporting activities.

Shipping, Receiving, and Logistics

· Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including truckload and LTL shipments, scheduling, and documentation.

· Coordinate with Customer Service, Sales, and carriers to resolve shipping or delivery issues.

· Ensure freight claims, returns, and shipping discrepancies are handled accurately and in a timely manner.

· Support on-time delivery of materials and finished goods.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

· Enforce all safety policies, material handling procedures, and quality requirements.

· Lead or support weekly safety activities, inspections, and toolbox talks.

· Ensure warehouse associates complete the required safety, HR, and operational training.

· Participate in audits and inspections as required.

Equipment, Maintenance, and Vendors

· Oversee warehouse-related equipment, including dock doors, levelers, lift trucks, and material handling equipment.

· Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and outside service providers; initiate and manage purchase orders as required.

· Communicate with transportation, maintenance, and service vendors to ensure compliance and reliability.

Systems, Reporting, and Administration

· Ensure accuracy of shipping documents, receiving records, and system transactions.

· Review payroll records for accuracy; address timekeeping issues as required.

· Monitor warehouse KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives, including order accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory performance.

· Generate and support improvement ideas to enhance safety, efficiency, accuracy, and cost control.

Skills and Qualifications:

· 3-7 years of experience leading a warehouse and associates within the site

· Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and standard business software.

· Ability to read and interpret schedules, shipping documents, inventory data, and operational procedures, and make solid decisions that support company growth and our vision.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams while remaining calm, fair, and decisive.

· Professional, flexible, approachable, and empathetic leadership style.

· Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and address operational gaps.
