Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Guelph DC - Operations Manager; transportation scheduling associate is responsible for appointing inbound shipments, dispatching outbound loads, and directing truck traffic within the DC.
Pick orders to satisfy the requirements of productions work orders, sample orders, and intercompany raw material transfers. Receive raw material in a timely fashion to satisfy customer demand. Ship finished product for distribution.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules appointments for all incoming shipments, working with the vendors and various trucking companies.

  • Attend gate call and record all truck and load information before granting carriers access to facility.

  • Assigns inbound trucks to specific warehouse doors.

  • Conduct daily yard audit documenting trailers and containers on-site.

  • Provides professional communication to carriers and answers inquiries in a timely fashion (internal and external).

  • Constant communication with logistics and DC operations team.

  • Advises appropriate personnel regarding completion, transit, and delivery dates or possible delays.

  • Review and record compliance to internal policies.

  • Record carrier delays and maintain failure log.

  • Coordinate outbound loads promptly with assigned carriers to ensure timely departures.

  • Responsible for compiling summary, maintaining carrier scorecard and metric reporting data used for measuring execution.

  • Preparing and maintaining various reports for the Manager.

  • Open cartons with safety knife; grasp and pull part; knot poly bags; break down corrugate.

  • Operate order picking machine at extreme heights; operate wave machine at 10 feet.

  • Read orders and fulfill orders by using RF tracker for transactions while maintaining performance to standard based on Performance Management System

  • Maintain clean/safe work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Basic math (addition and subtraction).

  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours per day for up to 6 days a week.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. - Must be able to Bend, twist, reach, push, lift for extended periods daily.

  • May need to work at off-site warehouse based on business needs.

  • Must be able to work daily overtime (2-3 hours) on regular basis up to 6 days a week.

  • Excellent work ethic and a positive attitude

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality

  • Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

  • Completes tasks on time as per deadline

  • Strong communication skills both oral and written

  • Intermediate knowledge of computer applications (word, excel, outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous warehouse experience.

  • Certified on wave and order picker.

  • SAP background preferred but not required.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$19.81 - $29.71 Hourly
