Job Description

Who will you be working with?

The Operations & Technology (O&T) team is a diverse team covering all service initiatives relative to WABTEC's locomotives. The team interacts with WABTEC's remanufacturing shops as well as customer account service shops, worldwide. This specific role primarily interacts with WABTEC's diesel engine remanufacturing site in Grove City, PA USA, collaborating with engineering, Global Supply Chain, manufacturing operations, and customer service accounts.  This role will also have interactions with international remanufacturing and service sites.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the O&T Engine Productivity Squad within the Wabtec Global Services Organizations (GSO), you will be responsible for leading the definition and execution of life-cycle cost (LCC) optimization projects, primarily involving the application of technologies enabling the inspection, repair and requalification of engine components. In this role you will be expected to influence multi-year strategic investment planning related to repair and inspection technologies, including but not limited to: automation systems, advanced repair techniques, non-destructive inspection methods, and industrial vision technologies.  This will require developing a broad understanding of industry trends and available technologies, building external supplier relationships, and effectively facilitating the development, validation and implementation of these technologies at Wabtec remanufacturing and service sites as a part of a cross-functional project team.  Successful implementation and sustainable performance of these projects will support the overall goal of the O&T Engine Productivity Squad to deliver multi-million dollar productivity savings versus prior year baselines.

What will your typical day look like?

    • Engage with the LCC team to execute technical and project management tasks aimed at reducing Engine repair and requalification cost through the implementation of new technologies
    • Assist in the development of  Multi-Generational Project Plans (MGPP) and strategize budget and ROI considerations to justify the validation and implementation of advanced technologies
    • Lead and direct technical discussions between suppliers, design engineers, and principal engineers relative, but not limited, to LCC projects
    • Facilitate communication within the team, as needed, to achieve milestones and professionally manage communications with internal / external project stakeholders
    • Identify risks to project execution, schedule, or valuation and facilitate the mitigation of those risks with the appropriate team and communicate as needed
    • Drive continuous improvement within other service divisions of WABTEC by developing a network of resources to standardize best practices
    • Professionally represent Wabtec during all customer and supplier interactions

What about the physical demands of the job?

Will need to be aware of different PPE requirements given shop floor interaction

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Wabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable) and fitness for duty test (as applicable).
