The mission of Health Care Economics is to identify, design and integrate new methodologies, metrics, and techniques that advance the abilities in health care data analysis, database construction, and measurement of the underlying forces in the health care industry. These methods are focused on trend management, contract analysis and administration, provider profiling, risk assessment, and predictive modeling.


You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Preference will be given to candidates willing and able to work Eastern and Central time zone business hours.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with data and data applications to assist in problem solving and analyses.  Maintain an understanding of data integrity.  Utilize AI tools to augment data analysis and other tasks
  • Performing quantitative analysis of utilization and cost
  • Produce financial models and reports with an overall goal of minimizing specialty pharmacy trend and accurately forecasting future costs
  • Assist in Actuarial modeling and analyses in:
    • Pharmacy affordability programs
    • Support infusion drug analytics for medical benefit contracting strategy
    • UHC pharmacy product development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Progress toward actuarial designation (ASA track), having passed 4 exams
  • 4 years of actuarial work experience 
  • Demonstrated experience leading actuarial analyses within health insurance
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel
  • Proven ability to translate technical results into clear insights for non-actuarial stakeholders


Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASA or FSA Society of Actuaries Designation
  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy
  • Demonstrated proficiency with coding languages such as SQL/R/Python/PowerBI
  • Proven excellent oral and written communication skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
