Job description

TITLE: Swing Shift - Security Guard
POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
COMPANY: Sharks Sports and Entertainment, LLC
LOCATION: SAP Center & Tech CU Arena
REPORTS TO: Security Manager
POSTING DATED: January 2026
PAY RANGE: The pay range for this role is $22.02 per hour - (SEIU Local 1877- Salary Schedule)
Position Overview:
The Security Team is responsible for maintaining the physical security of the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are currently seeking a professional and dependable individual to join our team on the swing shift, providing coverage during the late afternoon and evening hours. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for both guests and employees during one of our busiest operational periods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Continuously control building access, guarding against unauthorized entry and activities
  • Monitor video surveillance system and oversee various computer-related tasks
  • Monitor electronic access control system, opening doors, creating accounts and assigning access.
  • Conducts screening using metal detectors, hand wands and x-ray units.
  • Regularly maintain various registers/security logs
  • Regularly patrol facility by constant walking and climbing stairs
  • Identify and correct safety/security issues while escalating issues as needed to Security Supervisor
  • Provide excellent customer service experiences to enhance experience
  • Ability to handle radios, speaking opening and professionally demonstrating strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Follow safety and security policies, programs and procedures with the ability to manage high pressure situations
  • Operate vehicle gates, fire alarms and other life safety systems
  • Work collaboratively with San Jose Emergency Services as needed

Shift Information
  • Shift lengths vary depending on business needs and can be up to 8 hours any day and time of the week including weekends and holidays.
  • Typical Shift: Swing shift from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (schedule varies based on event needs)
    • Availability Requirement: Must be available to work at least two-thirds of scheduled events each month, including weekends and select holidays

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Valid California Guard Card required
  • Must be able to wear SSE assigned uniform during all shifts
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, possibly holidays, and nights
  • Must clear background check with no felony convictions
  • Must have the ability to deescalate situations
  • Prior security experience preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Must have the ability to deescalate situations

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate, transport, and manipulate certain equipment up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs multiple times in a shift
  • Must have the ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time inside and outside
