GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for selling VSI vendor products to poultry customers or thru approved poultry dealers and commercial applicators in the assigned territory as well as expanding the territory by prospecting new business through cold calls to potential poultry customers within the territory. This position is responsible for offering the best possible customer experience as well as providing hands-on explanations or demonstrations of any new or updated products when necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a satisfactory level.   • Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the organizations products/services.
  • Manage all sales functions assigned for the territory to ensure business growth according to budget and/or given sales growth goals.
  • Making customer sales calls (through media and in person), taking orders, collecting VSI returns, and problem solving with customers, management, and vendor representatives.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and negotiate skillfully in a variation of situations.
  • Develop growth strategies with customer management to establish appropriate sales goals based on sales history analysis, new products and industry trends.
  • Work in collaboration with vendor representatives on product training, promotions, and solution driven programs.
  • Utilize the CRM platform daily to document customer meetings, phone calls, emails, and task activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must have demonstrated experience and/or education as outlined below in order to satisfactorily perform the essential job duties and responsibilities. Qualifications may include, but are not limited, to:

  • Associates degree (preferred but not required)
  • 5+ years of outside sales experience (preferred but not required)
  • A minimum of two (2) or more years of work experience in distributor sales, manufacturer sales, customer service, inside sales, or commercial poultry production.
  • Any combination of experience, education, and training that will provide the level of knowledge, skills, and ability required for the job.
